In More Detail...

Crisis Call Handler Role:

Suicide Prevention UK are an award winning mental health charity who are currently looking for Crisis Call Handlers to answer calls on our National Suicide Prevention Helpline UK. Professional experience in mental health is not essential. The ability to listen and support someone in distress is often a natural human instinct. We need people who are passionate about breaking the stigma around mental health, who can be empathetic to our callers, patient and kind. All our training is given in-house and externally from our Warmley office over a number of weeks. Training sessions are in the evenings from 7-10pm but over flexible days so you can fit it around your other commitments. Our phone lines are open from 6pm - 3:30am, Monday to Sunday. We ideally require a minimum commitment of 8 hours a week. Again, the days and times are flexible to suit you.

Outreach Team:

The Patrol Team are volunteers who believe that people deserve care and compassion in their time of need. Those needs could be as a result of homelessness, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, intoxication, drug abuse, assault or any other issue which has caused personal distress or the potential for physical harm.

Our training is both in-house & professionally outsourced. Here is just some of the mandatory training our volunteers receive:

Communication and Listening Skills

Mental Health First Aid

First Aid

Safeguarding

Patrol Guidelines

Water Rope Rescue

Emotional Resilience

Health & Safety

Due to the varied backgrounds of each of our volunteers, we also find that they bring with them their own amount of incredible knowledge & skills to the team too.

Please Note: Currently, we only have positions open in our Bristol offices in Warmley. We will update this page as new positions become available across the UK.
